This kcm_webcam is a modified version of password &amp; user account section on systemsettings, which is add a webcam support for user image profile. This modification is based on OpenCV library due to multi platform capability. You can find this project on <a href=\"http:\/\/kde-look.org\/content\/show.php\/KCM+webcam+support+?content=119405\">kde-look<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To install this plugins, was never been easier as any other kde applications.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Get opencv-devel from repository if you haven&#8217;t install it<\/li>\n<li>Download the tar ball, extract them to same folder : tar -xzf kcm.tar.gz<\/li>\n<li>Go into the kcm folder : cd kcm\/<\/li>\n<li>Create a build directory and get into it : mkdir build &amp;&amp; cd build\/<\/li>\n<li>Execute cmake : cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=\/usr ..<\/li>\n<li>Execute make : make<\/li>\n<li>su to root and install : make install<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now, go to KDE systemsettings, Common Appearance and behaviour, Password &amp; User Account (I&#8217;m using KDE 4.5.1). Make sure the webcam already switch on if there are any Fn Hotkey for that, and click the user image. You should see the <strong>From Webcam<\/strong> button option to change the user image.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jfdesignnet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/compressed_kcm_webcam.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1145]\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1160\" title=\"compressed_kcm_webcam\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jfdesignnet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/compressed_kcm_webcam-300x187.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Somehow after trying this succesfully, I found some minor discomfort &#8230; because this is a modified version of module kcm_useraccount from KDE 4.4.5, after applying this patch to kcm_useraccount modules on KDE 4.5.1, the Password &amp; User Account section now moved from Account Details to Lost and Found Section. Looks like the <em>X-KDE-System-Settings-Parent-Category=about-me<\/em> at \/usr\/share\/kde4\/services\/kcm_useraccount.desktop was changed to <em>X-KDE-System-Settings-Parent-Category=account-details<\/em> on KDE 4.5.1 systemsettings. Of course the fix was pretty easy to apply, and here is I repackage the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jfdesignnet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/kcm.tar.gz\">kcm_webcam module<\/a> for KDE 4.5.1<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Been trying this kcm_webcam plugins for klixs, it works as it should be and want to share it.
