{"id":1539,"date":"2011-01-15T21:30:23","date_gmt":"2011-01-15T14:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jfdesignnet.com\/?p=1539"},"modified":"2011-01-15T21:30:23","modified_gmt":"2011-01-15T14:30:23","slug":"m2ts-on-vlc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jfdesignnet.com\/?p=1539","title":{"rendered":"m2ts on vlc"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My friend just bought a brand new Panasonic HD camcorder which records the videos in m2ts format and wants me to help converting to standard dvd format for her big lcd screen because she have no idea what the bluray is nor hdmi. \ud83d\ude42 m2ts according to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/.m2ts\">wikipedia<\/a> is a high definition MPEG-2 Transfer Stream format used in Blu-ray discs and AVCHD. Playing them directly from the camcoder using hdmi to my 40&#8243; Bravia is perfect, but when I transfered the m2ts file to my klixs desktop and play them with vlc &#8230; it doesn&#8217;t play nice &#8230; it was too jerky and way to far for calling it smooth \ud83d\ude42 I don&#8217;t have winblows so I cannot check about this recorded m2ts file if played using their recommended software HDWRITER from Panasonic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After googling it I found some tricks on vlc settings that worth a try. All you have to do is, go to <strong>Tools \u2013 Preferences<\/strong> in VLC, select <strong>Input &amp; Codecs<\/strong> option and select <strong>BiDir<\/strong> from the drop down menu for <strong>Skip H.264 in-loop deblocking filter <\/strong>(picture  below). I choose \u201cBiDir\u201d instead of  \u201cALL\u201d because this keeps the quality yet renders smoothly. Save the preference and play the video. The video should be  smooth and perfect. I tried this with VLC 1.1.5 The Luggage on KLIXs-2011, but it should work with  all OSes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jfdesignnet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/bidir.png\" rel=\"lightbox[1539]\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1540\" title=\"bidir\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jfdesignnet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/bidir-300x252.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"252\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conversion process is not a big deal since Kdenlive and OpenShot Video Editor on KLIXs have no difficulties recognizing this H-264 MPEG-2 Transfer Stream format.
